$%&#%!!!!

Last night, I was knitting away on the the aran sweater for Mr. Weirdy Pants when I decided to measure it. Here's a picture of it, reclining gracefully on the couch.

Except that as soon as I stood back from it, I found a mistake, and a big one. Huge, even. Look again, did you see it?

How about now?

What the hell? How do I fix it? It's a mere 12 inches back. Is there something I can do to fix it that doesn't involve ripping back, because that sort of makes me want to cry. I'm going to try too get my hands on this book before I do anything, and until then the poor sweater is going to sit in a sad heap in my knitting bag.

$%&#%!!!! Is right!!
The yarn harlot wrote about fixing a cable going in the wrong direction a few months ago. http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2006/06/20/all_is_not_lost.htmlHope this helps!! If not maybe a *really* big bottle of wine?

I've also heard of fixes where you cut out some yarn from the mistake area and reknit that section with new yarn.

What?! I don't see a mistake ANYWHERE! I bet Mr. WeirdyPants wouldn't either...

Oh, man. That's harsh. I was going to mention that Yarn Harlot trick as well. You could always put in a lifeline below it, then take those four/six/whatever stitches down and pick them back up in pattern. A slow process to be sure, but maybe better than re-knitting all 12 inches? Or how about sticking a knitted flower there? Would the Mr. mind?
